TURN A VERBAL AGREEMENT INTO A DECISION EVERYONE CAN FOLLOW.
Three people said yes.
Two days later, they remembered three different decisions.
The meeting ended well.
Everyone agreed.
No objections.
No raised voices.

Just three people saying yes and moving on.
Two days later, the work starts.
One person thinks the team agreed to launch Friday.
Another thinks Friday was only the target.
The Third thinks someone else owns the next step.
Nobody is lying.
Nobody is confused about the meeting.
They just remember it differently.
Because the decision never left the room.
LET’S FIX THAT IN 8 MINUTES.

STEP 1 — GET THE AGREEMENT OUT OF THE ROOM

🔴🟡🟢 COPY THIS INTO CHATGPT OR YOUR AI TOOL:
Act as my project chief of staff.

Now you have the raw decision material.
Don’t let AI turn “we discussed it” into “we decided it.”
STEP 2 — WRITE THE DECISION RECORD
Turn that material into something the people in the meeting can read in under a minute.

Keep it short.
The goal isn’t better meeting notes.
The goal is one shared version of what happened.
STEP 3 — CHECK THE RECORD
Before you send it, ask:
“Did We Actually Decide this?”

If the answer to any of those is unclear, fix it before sending.
This is where a five-minute meeting recap can prevent a much longer meeting later.
SEND IT
Send the decision record the same day, while the meeting is still fresh.
You can keep the message simple:
“Here’s my record of what we agreed today. Please flag anything I captured incorrectly.”
Then save it:
Decision Fog Lift v1
Now the decision exists somewhere other than three people’s memories.
WHAT YOU JUST DID
You didn’t write better meeting notes.
You created a shared record of the decision.
That matters because “yes” isn’t always as specific as it sounds.
Yes to what?
Who owns it?
By when?
What happens next?
And was everyone actually agreeing — or did everyone simply stop talking?
The sooner you capture those details, the less room there is for the decision to change shape later.

Tell us about your role and what you’re working on so we can build workflows around the problems you’re actually dealing with.

A decision record can tell you what was decided.
But there’s another problem:
Not every decision is clean.
Sometimes there was disagreement.
Sometimes the deadline wasn’t clear.
Sometimes one person thought they were agreeing to one thing while someone else heard something different.
Thursday, we’ll look at the simple record that captures the decision, owner, deadline, and dissent in one place.
